Miller's Tavern is a great place to chill out. Sitting on a well-groomed golf course called Palm Valley, it's located in the Sun City Community in Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV. This is an adult community and requires that at least one member of the household must be at least 55 years of age and no household member can be under 18. Needless to say, it's a quiet and peaceful place. Today, I met with a group of 18 people at Miller's for lunch and play time. The group's favorite game is Rummikub, a tile-based game for 2-4 players. It's a great past-time on a hot, summer day in the desert. About Miller's Tavern If you live in Las Vegas, NV, Miller's is a fun place to dine and enjoy various activities. Each life experience changes the things that lie within the deepest chambers of our hearts and the inner core of our souls. Among those experiences is the death of a person that you loved more than most. January 1, 2020, the clock struck the hour of "death" and the bad news was delivered. My brother was found dead in his bathtub. My mother was in her room on the second story, oblivious to the passing of her only son. Earlier that day, my brother's neighbors noticed a build-up of deliveries on his front porch, and the mail had started to accumulate. One of those neighbors decided to investigate the scene. He went up to the door, knocked, rang the bell, approached the side door and slider, but to no avail. The windows were locked, and nothing could be seen from the outside. The police were summoned. Upon arrival, they banged on the doors, yelled out, but no reply, no signs of life. They decided to force entry. The odor of death was in the air as they yelled out the word ...
Las Vegas Fun Times is my new baby! In all honesty, I wasn't ready to launch this new meetup group. Much to my surprise, when I stepped-up to the plate to become the Organizer of "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives!", the new group went live. Yikes! It had been sitting in "draft" mode since early April. Needless to say, I began my day scrambling to get things up to par. With the graphic in place and my intro complete (at least for now), I posted my first event, Happy Hour at The Hawthorn Grill. As luck would have it, a dear friend is celebrating her 70th birthday this month. I'm very hopeful that this will be a memorable birthday for my Vegas sister. Getting back to giving birth to a new group, I'm excited once again! Life is giving me new things, and I'm welcoming and embracing the new adventures and opportunities. I'm feeling right at home again; doing my happy dance. "Good Times" by Chic
