My Vegas Trip & Champagne Cocktails
Once again, I have fallen behind in my blogging. So much has happened since my last post. Let's start with my Las Vegas trip! I flew out of Columbus, OH on December 13th and returned on December 21st. I stayed with my soulmate, Harry. Even though we are more than 2000 miles apart, our hearts are still connected. 💞
We had a great time together, exchanging
gifts after a special holiday meal at home, dined at Lawry's, attended a
holiday gathering of friends, visited the Bellagio's festive atrium
display, and watched our traditional Christmas movies.

Of course, I
spent time with a small group of friends too, playing Canasta and going
out for a great lunch at "Sickies Garage" in Town Square. Sickies Garage
is a new, fun place to visit. Their extensive menu is sure to please!

Upon returning to Columbus, I signed a lease for my new apartment! My official move-in date is January 15th, but I probably won't be settled in until the end of January. Moving out of a storage space and a sublet is going to be a challenge in the winter weather!
Champagne Cocktails
Typically, a classic champagne cocktail is a drink made with sugar,
bitters, champagne, brandy, and garnished with a maraschino cherry. Easy to make and very festive, this cocktail will surely impress the family and friends!
Before you get started, here's an important tip: Never stir your champagne cocktail. It takes away the bubbles.
Here are four basic champagne cocktails:
- Raspberry Royale - Chambord (a raspberry liqueur) mixed with champagne
- Mimosa - a fruit juice of your choice (grape, cranberry, orange, raspberry lemonade) mixed with champagne
- Poinsettia - Cointreau (orange-flavored triple sec liqueur) and cranberry juice mixed with champagne
- Classic - Angostura Bitters (a concentrated bitters flavored with herbs and spices) mixed with champagne and sweetened with granulated sugar. This is often also served with brandy and a maraschino cherry, so feel free to add those, if desired!
Having a NYE party? Create fun for your guests by displaying champagne recipes and on a champagne bar! Let guests mix their own cocktails. Your bar can be set up using a party table or your kitchen counter. Use Dollar Store decor to enhance the NYE feeling and festivities!
Suggestions for the limited budget:
1. The brand of champagne doesn't really matter as the taste will be greatly enhanced with the additives.
2. Ask guest to bring specific items, such as maraschino cherries or fruit juice, even a bottle of champagne.
3. If you don't want to ask guests to bring items, ask for help covering the expenses, such as $5 per person. That's really reasonable considering the cost of going out on NYE.
4. Again, use dollar store decor. It's inexpensive and can be saved for next year's party.

Happy New Years to All!
