Del Mar Deli

Image
The Del Mar Deli Experience The Del Mar Deli is just one of the hidden gems in Vegas. Nestled into a corner of the South Point Hotel and Casino on S Las Vegas Blvd, it's easily found on the casino floor across from the Sports Book. If you are picking up for take out, I recommend the outside parking lot,  just across from the main entrance.   Last week, my fiance and I enjoyed one of Del Mar Deli's New York style sandwiches, the grilled Reuben. Unlike most delicatessens, the Reuben is crafted with your choice of meat, cheese, and bread. We chose the classic corned beef and swiss cheese on marbled rye. Stuffed between two slices of bread is a 1/2 lb of meat with cheese and sauerkraut, topped with the usual dressing and grilled. Served with your sandwich is a sizeable order of hot, tasty fries. It's an enjoyable meal that can easily be shared.   Del Mar offers other tastes of New York too. Among the selections are fresh bagels and pastry brought in daily from their sis

Hit the Trails in Lil Red!

Image
Lil Red? That's my 2020 Jeep Wrangler! She finally took her virgin ride on the trails in Nelson's Landing.  On the spur of the moment, Harry and I ventured out last Wednesday to hit the trail in Nelson's Landing. We stopped to visit the ghost town en route, also known as El Dorado Canyon or Nelson Ghost Town. Located on NV 165-E,  it's just  an hour outside of Las Vegas. The town is very scenic and sometimes used as a Hollywood set. It's also an area that's highly recommended for photographers, amateurs and professionals alike. Still standing is the ghost town's historic gold mine (shown below). It's said to be the oldest, richest, most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada. Many old buildings, retro signs, a telephone booth, abandon vehicles and a crashed airplane are just a few of the things that make the scene fervent. The old store is actually open and offers refreshing ice cream bars among other items. During our excursion, there was a food truck park

Our Reunion Celebration - Lawry's

Image
Our reunion celebration began with reservations at Lawry's The Prime Rib Las Vegas, a favorite place where Harry and I have celebrated special occasions over years. It's definitely a place to create memorable experiences. The restaurant's art deco design, soft music, and dim lighting create a romantic atmosphere. The service is excellent and the dining is unparalleled. Dinner started out with cocktails and lobster bisque, one of my favorite starters for a great meal. Lawry's fine lobster bisque is crafted in their kitchen with each order. Your chef proudly wheels it out to you on his silver cart and personally pours the creamy soup mixture over the sauteed lobster. It's delicious! One of the unique features of Lawry's is their Spinning Bowl Salad. Again, the serving cart is rolled up to your table. Your server spins the silver salad bowl while it's sitting atop of another chilled bowl filled with sparkling ice. Our server spun the salad bowl while narrating

Las Vegas Fun Times

Image
Las Vegas Fun Times is my new baby! In all honesty, I wasn't ready to launch this new meetup group. Much to my surprise, when I stepped-up to the plate to become the Organizer of  "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives!", the new group went live. Yikes! It had been sitting in "draft" mode since early April.  Needless to say, I began my day scrambling to get things up to par. With the graphic in place and my intro complete (at least for now), I posted my first event, Happy Hour at The Hawthorn Grill. As luck would have it, a dear friend is celebrating her 70th birthday this month.  I'm very hopeful that this will be a memorable birthday for my Vegas sister.   Getting back to giving birth to a new group, I'm excited once again! Life is giving me new things, and I'm welcoming and embracing the new adventures and opportunities. I'm feeling right at home again; doing my happy dance.  "Good Times" by Chic

Miller's Tavern in Vegas July 7, 2022

Image
Miller's Tavern is a great place to chill out. Sitting on a well-groomed golf course called Palm Valley,  it's located in the Sun City Community in Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV.  This is an adult community and requires that at least one member of the household must be at least 55 years of age and no household member can be under 18. Needless to say, it's a quiet and peaceful place. Today, I met with a group of 18 people at Miller's for lunch and play time. The group's favorite game is Rummikub, a tile-based game for 2-4 players. It's a great past-time on a hot, summer day in the desert.  About Miller's Tavern If you live in Las Vegas, NV, Miller's is a fun place to dine and enjoy various activities. This full service restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the bar or in the dining room. If it's not to hot, another option is the outdoor patio facing the golf course. In the bar area, gaming machines offer Poker, Black Jack, and Slots, just to nam
